Another week, another post.

I've been chipping away at a few different things throughout the last few days. Besides continuing work on Crystal Level, I've also taken time to improve things like the level end screen.

Crushing Progress

So we'll start with Crystal Level first. Last week I had gotten the level completed up to the first checkpoint. Crystal Level isn't going to be a super long level since a lot of it is based on waiting for moving objects, so I'm not going to try and maximize potential boredom by dragging this level out.

Here are some screenshots of the new areas in Crystal Level. I'm currently in the home stretch of the layout phase, and it'll likely be done by next week.

Report Card

I've also gone and made a few changes to the end of level process. Originally the player was just given a "Level Complete" message and booted back to the world map after four seconds, but there is more here now.

For one, you are given your final time for the level's completion. Also the player can idle on this screen for as long as they don't press the jump button.

I plan on making this screen look much cooler in the final game, but for Demo 2 this is adequate.

Some other pieces of work involve iterating on the design of the basic coins of the game, making fonts more legible, and collecting a list of bugs that I'll be stepping through soon.

A pretty eventful week compared to the last few, and I hope to keep this pace up. My current goal is to try and get Demo 2 finished before 2025. But to do that, I'll have to put in the work. See you next week.
