I've been taking time off from Project Petunia. That's not to say that I haven't worked on the game, I just haven't worked on it as much as I did in the last few weeks. I've decided to sit down and give Breaking Bad a full watch with my newfound free time and I will be converting Project Petunia into a crime drama within the next demo release.

That was a lie. So for the truth, I mostly just worked on some bugfixing and level design for this week.

More Levels

Project Petunia has two levels left to complete. The Tutorial is finished, and gives a good amount of info on how to play the game. I won't have to worry about players missing any part of the basic controls at least.

Hanged Ten has made very good progress. Two thirds of the level are fully playable, with only the final section left to go. Unfortunately, this section will be home to a unique setpiece, which will require some new art and programming assets to bring to completion. Despite that I expect the level to be done within the next week, so my attention will soon be turned towards the final level of Demo 2, Acrophobia

The New Sound

The last major piece of work for Demo 2 is the new music and sound effects that are needed. I've neglected this work since I like to listen to music during game dev but it's time to get into it. I've got a good idea of the sound effects I want already, so for those it's just a matter of finding the right foley. The soundtrack is the bigger piece of work. I'm a no good composer and making music has just never clicked with me. Regardless of lack of ability, the work has to be done.

Keeping Up Appearances

I've gotten close enough to the release of Demo 2 to start considering smaller things like the game's page on Itch.Io. I went through that recently and updated all the screenshots to show off Demo 2 instead of the now ancient Demo 1. It was fun to see how much has been added and changed since then.

Bit of a short update this week, but taking some time away from the game is for the best. See you next week.
